Are you a candidate?
If you feel that the appearance of your face no longer reflects how young you actually feel, you may be a facelift candidate.
Aging is unavoidable, and it can interfere with your self-image and happiness. Unfortunately, its outward signs usually appear while you still feel young.
But facial aging need not be accepted as a matter of course. Facial rejuvenating procedures are highly satisfying procedures for appropriate patients. Skin prematurely ages from a number of factors such living in a hot dry climate, excessive sun exposure (especially in your youth), smoking, or fair skin color.
A facelift is often the best way to turn back the clock. The surest way to find out if a facelift is right for you is to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
For Best Results
A facelift or Rhytidectomy is a surgical procedure designed to remove the major folds, wrinkles, and sagging areas, as well as the redundant skin on the face and neck that occur naturally with aging.
Patients should understand that it is not the aim of a facelift to remove every wrinkle, as this would create an unnatural appearance. Fine wrinkles and skin texture are best improved with non-surgical treatments like chemical peels, dermabrasion, lasers, or filler injections. Many facelift patients greatly enhance their surgical results by following up with these non-surgical procedures.
Facelifts are often also done in combination with removal of fat from beneath the chin, and/or with adjustment of the platysma muscle of the neck for a more youthful jaw line.
Patients who do not require a very extensive lift may be better candidates for the LiteLift™, which is a modified “mini-facelift” that accomplishes many of the same goals as a traditional facelift but is less invasive and can be done in the office under a local anesthesia (with oral sedation).
Choose the best surgeon
A facelift is a surgical procedure, and as such its results are most affected by the skill, knowledge, and experience of the surgeon.
The surgon first applies his or her skill when deciding whether a facelift is right for a particular patient in the first place. Facelifts are actually a very versatile range of procedures, and your surgeon will recommend specific techniques based on his or her medical knowledge and experience. Even from the day of your consultation, your choice of doctor affects your surgical outcome.
The surgeon you choose will be the person to whom you trust your face. Results in cosmetic surgery cannot be guaranteed, but the likelihood of an excellent result is greatly improved by choosing the best surgeon you can find.
